Neptalie Olivera, 14, was with her family on the way to the beach last Friday when a car slammed into their Chevy Trailblazer on NW 101st Street at 29th Avenue. The force of the impact caused the SUV to roll over several times. Despite their best efforts, doctors were unable to save Olivera’s arm. Now her family has issued a desperate plea to the community to help find the driver responsible.
“We really need for the community to help us find this person and help us start to close our wounds,” said Evelyn Olivera, the girl’s godmother. “She’s supposed to be starting her teenage years. And now has to learn, start from scratch just about everything, even trying to put on her clothes.”
A surveillance camera near the accident site captured an image of the car as if took off after the crash. Police believe it is either a silver Mitsubishi Galant or a Pontiac Grand Prix; it will have severe damage on the front passenger side.
