A judge agreed Friday to postpone a jail sentence against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a Las Vegas domestic violence case, allowing the undefeated boxer to make a Cinco de Mayo fight against an as-yet unnamed opponent. The ruling by Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa to allow Mayweather to begin his 90-day stint on June 1 came with the fighter’s manager and supporters, including rap star Lil’ Kim and R&B artist Ray J, in the courtroom as a defense lawyer cited the economic boost that Las Vegas could get from the bout. Mayweather, meanwhile, waited in the lobby of a nearby building to hear whether Saragosa would make him immediately begin serving the three-month sentence she imposed when the boxing champion pleaded guilty last month to a charge that he attacked his ex-girlfriend while two of their children watched in September 2010.

At least 1,200 pelicans and other sea-faring birds have washed up dead on Peru’s northern coastline, just weeks after 600 dolphins died in the same region. Now, the Peruvian government has issued a health alert, asking people stay off the beaches until scientists can figure out what is causing the massive die-offs.  The Health Ministry recommended stopped short of a ban and called on health officials to use gloves, masks and other protective gear when collecting dead birds.The peak tourism season around Lima’s Pacific Ocean beaches is over, although many surfers are still venturing into the waters near the capital. A mass pelican death along Peru’s northern coast in 1997 was blamed at the time on a shortage of feeder anchovies due to the El Nino weather phenomenon. Some were undeterred by the mysterious deaths. ‘We eat fresh fish on the quay of Chorrillos every day, and no fisherman has died yet, so don’t worry, it’s nothing,’ said Gloria Rivera, a seafood restaurant owner.  Scientists have speculated that the dolphins died as a result of sonar testing by fuel companies searching for oil off the shore. Nearly 3,000 dolphins have been found dead so far this year.

Miles de personas, sobre todo entre la comunidad hindú, se indignaron de inmediato cuando el anuncio fue develado ayer, tachándolo de racista y criticando fuertemente al actor de ‘Two and a Half Men’ por prestarse a tal degradante imitación. Ante las críticas, la compañía decidió mejor retirar el anuncio, pero como dicen por ahí, el daño ya estaba hecho y desde hoy, se difunden las imágenes que puedes ver en el clip al inicio de la nota.

Today the 49-year-old changed her name to @justdemi. Demi and Ashton Kutcher, who often used the micro-blogging site to post pictures of themselves and proclaim their love for one another, announced the end of their marriage in November. In April, the actress asked her followers on the site for suggestions for a new handle. TV personality Piers Morgan suggested, ‘How about (at)mrsmorgan?’ Demi said she would ‘have to get clever’ because so many names on the popular site have already been claimed.
