Who won Mexico’s presidential debate? According to the media and Twitter frenzy, at least, the victor wasn’t any candidate but a curvaceous model in a tight gown who puzzled millions by appearing on stage for less than 30 seconds during the showdown. Julia Orayen has posed nude for Playboy and appeared barely dressed in other media, but she made her mark on Mexican minds Sunday night by carrying an urn filled with bits of paper determining the order that candidates would speak. Not that viewers were looking at the urn.

Thousands of pills filled with powdered human flesh have been discovered by customs officials in South Korea, it was revealed today. The capsules are in demand because they are viewed as being a medicinal ‘cure-all’. The grim trade is being run from China where corrupt medical staff are said to be tipping off medical companies when babies are aborted or delivered still-born. The tiny corpses are then bought, stored in household refrigerators in homes of those involved in the trade before they are removed and taken to clinics where they are placed in medical drying microwaves. Once the skin is tinder dry, it is pummelled into powder and then processed into capsules along with herbs to disguise the true ingredients from health investigators and customs officers. The discoveries since last August has shocked even hardened customs agents who have pledged to strengthen inspections. Chinese officials are understood to have been aware of the trade and have tried to stop the capsules being exported but thousands of packets of them have been smuggled through to South Korea.

All couples argue, but what are couples fighting about the most? According to a recent survey from the American Institute of CPAs, money is the most common reason married or cohabiting couples fight.  Of over 1,000 American adults polled in a national telephone survey, 27 percent of participants said that disagreements over finances were most likely to erupt into an argument — not children, chores, work or friends. The survey also found that couples average three arguments a month about financial issues. Researchers believe that the conflict may stem from failing to discuss money on a regular basis. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed who were married or living with a partner said that they don’t regularly set aside time to talk about financial issues. For that reason, says HuffPost Weddings blogger and financial expert Jennifer Calandra, couples should have a financial conversation before they exchange their “I Dos.” “One of the biggest roadblocks we see is a lack of communication about finances, which seems to get worse as the years go on,” she wrote in January. “Make it a point to establish your level of expectation from the beginning regarding communication. It will help significantly as time goes on.”HuffPost

An Army nurse showed no alarm or discomfort before suddenly collapsing during a Skype video chat with his wife, who saw a bullet hole in a closet behind him, his family said Sunday. Capt. Bruce Kevin Clark’s family released a statement describing what his wife saw in the video feed recording her husband’s death in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan. It’s not clear how the bullet hole got in the closet. “Clark was suddenly knocked forward,” the statement from the soldier’s family said. “The closet behind him had a bullet hole in it. The other individuals, including a member of the military, who rushed to the home of CPT Clark’s wife also saw the hole and agreed it was a bullet hole.” The statement says the Skype link remained open for two hours on April 30 as family and friends in the U.S. and Afghanistan tried to get Clark help. “After two hours and many frantic phone calls by Mrs. Clark, two military personnel arrived in the room and appeared to check his pulse, but provided no details about his condition to his wife,” the statement said. In the statement, Susan Orellana-Clark said she was providing details of what she saw “to honor my husband and dispel the inaccurate information and supposition promulgated by other parties.” U.S. officials in Afghanistan referred questions to the Pentagon, which previously referred questions to the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, where Clark was assigned. The Pentagon said previously that Clark’s death remains under investigation.

Hulk, smash. That’s what Captain America tells the Incredible Hulk to do in “The Avengers,” and that’s what the Marvel Comics superhero mash-up did at the box office, smashing the domestic revenue record with a $200.3 million debut. It’s by far the biggest opening ever, shooting past the previous record of $169.2 million for the debut of last year’s “Harry Potter” finale. “The Avengers” added $151.5 million overseas over the weekend to bring its total to $441.5 million since it began opening internationally a week earlier. That raised the film’s worldwide haul to $641.8 million in barely a week and a half, more than its Marvel superhero forerunners “Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “Captain America” took in during their entire runs. If distributor Disney’s domestic estimate Sunday holds when the final weekend count is released Monday, “The Avengers” would be the first movie ever to haul in $200 million in a single weekend. While the number could dip below $200 million come Monday, Disney spent the weekend revising its forecasts upward as business kept growing. HuffPost

Justin Bieber cemented his status as the world’s greatest teenager last night. Clearly being a platinum selling pop star with over 21 million Twitter followers isn’t enough for the young Canadian. The Boyfriend singer was the first person to congratulate Floyd Mayweather Jr as the pint sized boxer defeated Miguel Cotto, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas. Justin was Floyd’s guest of honour at the big fight, even though other notable stars included rappers 50 Cent and Lil Wayne. The unlikely friendship between Bieber and Mayweather has become so close that the 18-year-old was given unrivalled access to the undefeated boxer. The pop star joined Floyd in the dressing room before the fight and was given great seats after escorting the champ into the ring.
