Macaulay Culkin’s camp slammed a report on Wednesday that the actor is addicted to drugs and has only months to live, blasting the story as “impossibly and ridiculously fictitious.” A rep for the actor categorically denied a National Enquirer cover story that had been making the rounds, which claimed that Culkin, 31, is abusing heroin and prescription pain medication. “The report in the National Enquirer that Macaulay Culkin is addicted to heroin and assorted hallucinogenics is not only categorically without merit, but it is also impossibly and ridiculously fictitious,” a rep for the actor said in a statement to the Daily News. The tabloid, which cited an unnamed “close friend” as the source, alleged that Culkin was on a downward spiral after his split from Mila Kunis in 2010, and now spends up to $6,000 a month on drugs. “He’s been hooked for a year and a half, and his drug of choice is either heroin or oxycodone,” the paper quoted a source as saying. “Mac is surrounding himself with junkies and lowlifes. It’s a real tragedy.” The “sources” told the magazine that Culkin was addicted to heroin, oxycontin, Percocet and Vicodin, and had even almost overdosed once. The story was accompanied by photos of Culkin from February, when he was spotted looking gaunt. Despite the striking photos, Culkin blasted reports he was battling drug addiction and dismissed the idea that his health was in jeopardy. “Macaulay Culkin is in perfectly good health,” his spokesman told Us Weekly at the time, calling any speculation “reckless, thoughtless and irresponsible.” NY Daily
