Kinect Breaks Guinness Record, Sells 10 Million Systems, Tops iPhone and iPad

Given all the hype and praise showered on Apple’s iPhone and iPad, most people would probably consider those devices to be among the hottest selling products on the market. And while it’s true that they are, neither is THE hottest. That distinction belongs to Microsoft’s Kinect, which broke a Guinness world record for “fastest selling consumer electronics device” with 10 million units sold since launching last November, reports PC World. “The sales figures here speak for themselves,” said Gaz Deaves, editor of the Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer’s Edition. “No other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span.” The Kinect sold through an average of 133,333 units per day since November 4 and 8 million units moved during its first two months of release.
