While Miamians will enjoy sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s Thursday, it was on this day 35 years ago that snow fell in the Magic City. January 19, 1977 was the first time in recorded history that snow fell in Miami. The flakes began to fall in Broward and Miami-Dade between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., as a cold front made its way down the coast of Florida. Flurries were reported as far south as Homestead, though for the most part the snowfall melted when it made contact with the ground. Mark Wahlberg apologised today for claiming that he could have stopped one of the 9/11 planes crashing into the World Trade Center, admitting that his comments were ‘ridiculous’ and ‘irresponsible’. The actor, who played boxer Micky Ward in ‘The Fighter’, sparked outrage with his assertion that he would have battled terrorists and taken control of the plane if he had been on board. He was scheduled to be on one of the Boston-to-Los Angeles flights that crashed into the twin towers, but cancelled his ticket a few days before the tragedy struck.  That flight was piloted by Mohamed Atta and was the first to hit the World Trade Center. Just one day after the gruesome discovery of a human head in a plastic bag beneath the Hollywood sign, police have found two severed hands believed to possibly have belonged to the same man.The body parts were found a few blocks away from a home owned by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in the Hollywood Hills. Coincidentally, a head was found in a box at the end of one of Mr. Pitt’s most popular films, ‘Seven.’There is absolutely no suggestion the grim finds had anything to do with the superstar couple. About 30 detectives were at the scene Wednesday searching the trails below the famous sign and asking questions door-to-door to see if anybody noticed anything suspicious.  ‘We’re hoping we can find more remains,’ said Los Angeles Police Department Commander Andrew Smith to the Los Angeles Times.  The head was found at 2:30pm on Tuesday in Bronson Canyon Park by a couple walking nine dogs.
