‘I want you or Rihanna’: Emails to Newsweek writer from Shaquille O’Neal

Emails which were allegedly sent between basketball star Shaquille O’Neal and Newsweek reporter Allison Samuels apparently reveal she was trying to set Shaq up with a host of models but was told he only wanted ‘her or Rihanna’. The emails are said to have been sent in 2008, from Ms Samuel’s Newsweek work email, after she met the player when she was covering the Los Angeles Lakers game. It is thought Shaq was still with his wife at the time as they reconciled a year after they got divorced in 2007. During the conversation, she tries to set the basketball star up with several models, including Sessilee Lopez and Lauren London. Shaq reveals in his response that Lauren is ‘d wade’s girl’ – referring to his Miami Heat former team mate Dwyane Wade. Mail Online

Naked man who ‘went on door to door stabbing rampage in New York was spooked by the earthquake’

A naked madman who stabbed five people on a rampage with a six-inch kitchen knife in New York was driven to distraction by the East Coast earthquake, it has been reported. Christian Falero, 23, went banging on his neighbours’ doors in Washington Heights before viciously stabbing one elderly man to death and attacking four others, including three women aged between 60 and 85. The young man, who then turned the blade on himself, is said to have felt the tremors and gone crazy as a result. The suspect, who was arrested and has been charged with second-degree murder and robbery, also allegedly punched a 22-year-old woman and killed 81-year-old Ignacio Reyes-Collazo.

Air hostess applicant ‘had breasts checked for implants during job interview’

Dozens of women applying for air hostess jobs with an were ordered to strip nearly naked and have their breasts handled in medical check-ups, one of the applicants claimed today. She said Garuda – Indonesia’s main airline – wanted to screen out women who had tattoos on their breasts or who had had breast implants. As part of the medical check-up, they had to strip down to just their pants, the woman making the allegations claimed. Declining to be named – because she said she still wanted the coveted job – the woman said the breast checks were carried out at the airline’s South Korean branch in Seoul. The applicants hoped to snare one of the 18 positions being offered for flight attendants. ‘The hand examination on breast was held since those with implants can have health issues when air pressure falls during flights,’ the South Korean news agency Yonhap quoted an airline official as saying. The official said cabin crew were banned from having tattoos and workers hired in other countries such as Japan and Australia were also subjected to a similar examination. However claims about the check-ups have angered women’s rights groups, which described the process as unnecessary and intrusive. A spokesman for South Korea’s main airline, Korean Air, described the tests as ‘bizarre’. He said: ‘We’ve never heard of or done such check-ups on flight attendants but I wonder if this means that passengers with breast implants should not fly also.’  At Garuda Indonesia’s office in Seoul, a spokesman said the medical tests should have followed routine procedures – and those do not include such examinations. Pornography blamed for five-fold rise in genital cosmetic surgery requests by women

The demand for genital cosmetic surgery among women has risen five-fold in just 10 years, according to NHS figures. But a new study has found that most women who request a ‘designer vagina’ do not need it. A study by Dr Sarah Creighton, from University College London, found most women requested it as they felt pressured to have ‘perfect’ sexual organs by pictures seen in the media. The reasons included becoming more aware of the genital area, watching TV programmes on cosmetic genital surgery, comments from a partner and physical discomfort.

The day the Earth shook

A huge earthquake ripped through the East Coast of America on Tuesday, causing terrifying tremors from Washington D.C. to New York. Buildings in the major cities throughout the north east – including the Pentagon and the White House – had to be evacuated with the 5.8 magnitude earthquake, which originated in Virginia, shaking areas from as far north as Toronto, Canada, and as far south as Anderson in South Carolina. In Virginia there were reports of damage caused by the quake, while the streets of downtown Washington and New York were filled with thousands of people hauled out of buildings for fear they could collapse. There were also fears of a nuclear disaster of the kind seen in Japan’s Fukushima because the epicentre was just a few miles from two nuclear power plants. Federal officials said two nuclear reactors at the North Anna Power Station in Louisa County, Virginia, were automatically taken off line by safety systems. At the Pentagon, it has been reported that staff ran from the building fearing they were under attack
