On Today's Show:
Same sex bridal magazine born of frustration

Atlanta, Georgia (CNN) — Kirsten Ott walked down the aisle in a white strapless gown with an embroidered bodice and cascading ruffles. Maria Palladino, dressed in a white suit, waited for her at the end of the aisle with a minister. Surrounded by their family and close friends, the women committed to each other for the rest of their lives. Organizing a wedding can be challenging, what with finding the right photographer, the perfect cake, the prettiest flowers and, most importantly, the venue. It was even harder for Kirsten, because she had to find vendors who accepted same-sex marriage in Atlanta, Georgia, where the union isn’t legally recognized. Kirsten and Maria turned to wedding magazines for inspiration while planning their 2008 wedding. But Kirsten said something important was missing. “There are tons of wedding magazines when you go into a wedding section at a bookstore, but we weren’t in any of them. Not one single gay couple. It was disheartening.” Over time, the couple found vendors, like a photographer who had worked for a transgender couple and a gay-friendly wedding venue. Ironically, it was the Mary Gay House in Decatur, Georgia. “We did a lot of research before we contacted most of our vendors, reached out to … we knew about more of the gay-friendly companies in town or we would ask around.”Planning their wedding inspired the newlyweds to start their own wedding magazine geared toward engaged same-sex couples. Kirsten, a journalist, and Maria, a graphic designer, used their career backgrounds and personal experience to launch the online magazine Equally Wed.

People cited a source close to the negotiations. “Her demands got out of hand,” the source told People. “Fox had just had enough.” No word yet from the folks at Fox on whether JLo is truly out of the picture. Also no word yet on two other widespread rumors — that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler  is close to signing a deal to become an Idol judge, and that Kara DioGuardi has gotten a pink slip and will not be returning to the show for Season 10.(NJ.com)

Lindsay Lohan judge removes herself from case

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) – The judge who sent Lindsay Lohan to jail has removed herself from the case after a prosecutor complained she improperly contacted experts or participants in the case privately, including a rehabilitation facility, officials said Wednesday. Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel recused herself Friday, court spokesman Allan Parachini and district attorney’s office spokeswoman Jane Robison said. Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden Fox is now handling the Lohan case. Revel’s clerk said there would be no comment, and she referred callers to Parachini. Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers was in court and unavailable for comment. Robison said there were several instances when the judge had communications and the prosecutor was not present or told afterward. In one instance, the judge contacted the Morningside Recovery rehab facility, which was not on a list provided by her court-appointed experts. She then selected Morningside as a place to send Lohan. Lohan attorney Shawn Chapman Holley eventually persuaded the judge to send Lohan to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. An e-mail request to Chapman seeking comment wasn’t immediately returned. Court officials declined further comment. The actress was released Aug. 2 from the women’s jail in Lynwood, where she served 14 days of a 90-day sentence for violating her probation in a 2007 drug case. She immediately went to the UCLA drug rehabilitation facility for a court-ordered three-month stint.

Paris Hilton sued for $35M for wearing wrong hair

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Paris Hilton was sued Wednesday for allegedly wearing someone else’s hair. A company that manufactures hair extensions claimed the 29-year-old socialite breached her contract to wear and promote their product when she sported the fake locks of a competitor in 2008. Hairtech International Inc. is seeking $35 million in damages – 10 times what she was apparently paid under the contract. The fraud and breach-of-contract suit cites the heiress’ partying as contrary to Hairtech’s marketing campaign. The filing also claims Hilton missed a launch party for the hair extension line because she was serving a stint in jail in 2007. Hilton served 23 days in 2007 after she was caught driving twice on a suspended license while on probation for reckless driving. The filing states the company’s lost $6.6 million on the launch party alone, although a jury or judge will have to decide whether Hilton owes any money if the case goes to trial.

NY gov says Islamic group won’t relocate mosque

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) – Gov. David Paterson said Wednesday that developers of an Islamic cultural center that would include a mosque near ground zero have rejected his offer to help them find a different site. While in Manhattan, Paterson said the group apparently wants to remain with its current plans to build near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The mosque, to be located two blocks from ground zero, would be part of a 13-story, $100 million Islamic center that would feature a 500-seat auditorium, a swimming pool and a gym. It’s a project of the Cordoba Initiative, an advocacy group that promotes improved relations between Islam and the West. Critics are suspicious of who will fund the project, and developers haven’t released their sources of capital. Opponents also say the religion that fueled the hatred in the terrorists shouldn’t be displayed so near the site.
