Checking out the Miami Heat’s Big Three may not cost you and arm and a leg after all. The team announced it will be releasing hundreds of additional $10 tickets for sale Monday for individual games for the strike-shortened 2011-2012 NBA season. The tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. and can be purchased on Heat.com, ticketmaster.com or at 1-800-4NBA-TIX. There’s an eight ticket limit per order per game.

A member of a group of  16 Colombians, who lied on their visa applications saying they were attending a cheerleading competition, was sentenced to time served, authorities said Thursday. Duastin Salazar, 28, plead guilty to visa fraud and was sentenced to time served, two years supervised release and $100, according to an email from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. On Sept. 30, Salazar arrived at Miami International Airport with the rest of the group saying they had traveled for a  South Florida cheerleading competition. Authorities waited for the group’s arrival at the airport and immediately separated the leader. He told officials that he was not a cheerleader and that his plan was to separate from the group and stay in the U.S. for longer than he had stated, authorities said. Salazar and six of the members were part of the alleged smuggling organization and the other nine participants were illegal aliens attempting to be smuggled into the country, authorities said. Jennifer Lopez, Charlie Sheen and LeBron James were all at risk when they flew on a dangerously unsafe private jet, a pilot has claimed. Ex-chief-pilot-turned whistleblower, George Thomsen, has accused California’s Crystal Air Aviation of putting flight staff and celebrities in danger by using the aircraft. According to Mr Thomsen, NBA superstar James could have been killed after a serious fuel leak was spotted on the Gulfstream 4 jet he was due to fly on. Mr Thomsen left his job at the airline just six weeks after starting at the firm. He then sent a copy of his resignation letter, which included his findings supported with pictures, to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA has since opened an investigation into the ex-pilot’s claims. In a copy of the November 23 letter Mr Thomsen wrote that there were ‘major safety issues by allowing the aircraft to fly.’Mail Online

Passengers can check flight schedules on their iPad, check in before the gate, as well as view terminal maps… but so can the cockpit now too. The Federal Aviation Administration says pilots are now approved to use iPads during all phases of flight starting Friday. Passengers, however, must still keep theirs on airplane mode. American pilots last year tested the iPads as a way to replace paper manuals in the cockpit and with their following success have mutually succeeded in reaching the FAA’s approval. According to Seattle Pi, the electronic swap of manuals, maps, and charts into a thin handheld device will save 35 pounds of paper and therefore $1.2 million worth of fuel each year. American Airlines will be the first airline in the world to take on the transition starting Friday, according to zdnet.com. The FAA acknowledges that the iPad is a ‘commercial-off-the-shelf electronic hardware that is not approved or certified by the FAA,’ according to a released ‘Information for Operators’ guide.

A 12-year-old upstate New York boy may be wishing that his dog ate his homework. Police in the village of Liberty say they used math homework to track down a boy suspected of breaking into an auction house Saturday night, according to the Times Herald-Record of Middletown. Police say they were tipped off after finding the homework with the suspect’s name written on it.Jewelry, cellphones, video games, tools and knives had been stolen, according to the Hudson Valley Insider. The village of Liberty according to the United States Census Bureau is just 2.4 square miles in size. He was arrested on charges of burglary in the 3rd degree which is a felony in addition to petite larceny which is a misdemeanor.  He will be handled in the Sullivan County Family Court. Mail Online

Air Force commanders are investigating the origins of a photo of airmen posing around an open casket with another airman inside pretending to be dead. In the photo, which has elicited disbelief and outrage from military commanders, military wives and widows, and others, 15 airmen are seen kneeling or standing around a metallic casket, similar to those used to carry war dead home. In the open casket is another airman, looking lifeless, with what appears to be a noose around his neck and chains across his body.“Da Dumpt, Da Dumpt … Sucks 2 Be U” is scribbled at the bottom of the photo, which apparently was taken in August but didn’t come to light publicly until it was emailed to Air Force Times on Monday.
