Three hospitals in Colorado announced Wednesday that they will waive some fees and in some cases foot the entire bill for victims of last week’s “Dark Knight” movie theater massacre. Children’s Hospital Colorado will use donations and its charity care fund to cover the expenses of those without health insurance. HealthOne, which owns the Medical Center of Aurora and Swedish Medical Center, will either limit or eliminate all charges for the 22 shooting victims they’ve treated, depending on each person’s circumstances, the Associated Press reported. The public and Warner Bros., which released the “Dark Knight Rises,” have donated nearly $2 million to help victims, many of whom lack health coverage, pay their bills. A report from The Colorado Trust, a health care advocacy group, says that nearly 1 in three Coloradans have no health insurance, or inadequate insurance.
