A Broadway audience screamed in horror as a stuntman from disastrous new musical Spider-man:Turn Off the Dark plunged 30 feet into the orchestra pit. In scenes caught on video, Christopher Tierney‘s safety harness seemingly malfunctioned as he jumped from a platform in a rehearsed stunt. The 31-year-old was rushed to hospital in a ‘serious condition’ after the incident yesterday, where he remains. The accident is just the latest of a string of mishaps to hit the troubled production, which is the most expensive in Broadway history by a large margin. Costing more than $65million, it even features music and lyrics written by Bono and The Edge from rock band U2.(MailOnline)

If Hollywood movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger can have career in  politics, why can’t comedian George Lopez? That is the question the popular TV host proposed as he announced his plans to run for Mayor of Los Angeles today.  George made the announcement on Good Day LA this morning when hosts of the morning show asked him what his next plans are after comedy. ‘Yes! I want to be mayor of Los Angeles. … If Arnold Schwarzenegger can be governor, why can’t George Lopez be mayor of Los Angeles? … We have O-bama and I’ll be Lo-bama,’ he said on-air. ‘I’m going to run,’ he said. ‘Although I don’t believe I’ll pass the background check now… I do intend to run for mayor at some point of Los Angeles… In eight years.’ His reference to background checks usually refers to any records of criminal behaviour.  While the comedian’s record is seemingly clean, he did not make it clear what he was referring to or whether he was having a joke. George however, hinted that he would like some more airtime with his late-night talk show, Lopez Tonight before he goes into the running. And as always the funny man added some humour to the topic of discussion, joking around with the morning show hosts about his grand plans.(MailOnline)

Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan has moved to a secret location after a clash with a staff member at her rehab clinic over the weekend. The Mean Girls actress is being investigated by police over allegations that she attacked a female rehab worker, according to reports. But the scandal-hit star insists that she was hit first by the employee at California’s Betty Ford Treatment Centre, and that she merely defended herself by pushing the woman away. She is now said to be filing a formal complaint against the staff member at the high-profile facility. Lohan, 24, says she was forced to shove the woman during a physical altercation in the early hours of December 12.(MailOnline)

He has interviewed presidents, royalty and stars of all kinds. But after 25 years, tonight saw the final episode of CNN chat show Larry King Live. The last day of the 77-year-old’s show was so heralded, that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger proclaimed Thursday ‘Larry King Day’. And not one but two presidents – Barack Obama and Bill Clinton - joined those lining up to pay tribute to King, surprising many. In a message recorded at the White House President Obama told viewers: ‘I want to join all of you in congratulating Larry King.’ Former president Clinton added: ‘Thank you for the years, you were great.’ But perhaps the guests who meant the most to King were his family, who joined him to watch as crooner Tony Bennett, 84, sang The Best Is Yet To Come. Chance, 11, was looking forward to the future, and having his dad at his baseball games: ‘I’m really happy because now I can be with you more and probably be with you more.’ And Cannon, ten, added: ‘It’s gonna be great.’ King himself had kept the day low key as he kept to his normal morning routine of breakfast with friends in Beverly Hills, seeming somewhat bemused by the camera crews there to greet him. And he opened his show in a similar tone, joking: ‘I knew this day was coming. These words aren’t easy to say… Bill Maher.’ But by the end of the show the tears had come, and King told his audience: ‘It’s not very often in my life I’ve been lost for words.  ‘I want to thank everybody associated with this programme, everybody that makes it possible – even the suits at the top. ‘When I started out 25 years ago in a little studio in Washington DC I never thought it would last as long as this.’ King promised he wasn’t going away for good, and would still appear on CNN from time to time. ‘I don’t know what to say, so instead I’ll say this to you, my audience. An actor who appeared in the film ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’ was sentenced to life in prison yesterday for stabbing his ex-girlfriend more than 20 times when he caught her with another man. Shelley Malil will serve at least 12 years before being considered for parole San Diego County Superior Court Judge Harry Elias ruled. The sentence comes three months after a jury convicted the actor of attempted premeditated murder and assault with a deadly weapon.(MailOnline)
