She’s known for loving her fans whom she calls her ‘little monsters’, but today in Dublin Lady Gaga took it a step further and surprised a group of her followers with a sweet treat. Sending her security guard outside her hotel to count heads, the singer then sent out hot chocolate to each person. The thrilled fans were delightedly posing for pictures with their drinks, making ‘monster’ poses. On tour in Europe for the past few weeks, Lady Gaga has been causing quite a stir with her trademark outrageous outfits, attracting plenty of attention from fans. Another fan she ran into this week was David Furnish, Sir Elton John’s husband. Gaga was recording a duet with Sir Elton called Hello, Hello, which will feature in a new Disney film, Gnomeo and Juliet. Tweeting a picture of herself with Furnish, the blonde star tweeted: ‘The Union is the album he put out this week so I will celebrate the music w David, Elton, and wine.’ Gaga’s career continues to go from strength to strength. Life expectancy for men increased by almost three years in the last decade to close the gender gap with women, Government figures showed today. The improvement means boys born in England between 2007 and 2009 can expect to reach the age of 78, while girls are likely to live just past their 82nd birthday – a difference of four years. Almost 10 years ago, the gap in life expectancy was nearly five years, with boys expecting to live to 75.3 while girls were likely to reach 80.1. The Department of Health statistics show male life expectancy has increased by 3.7 per cent since 1998-2000 compared with a 2.5 per cent increase in female life expectancy. Mortality rates in England also fell in 2007-2009, with death rates dropping by more than 22 per cent in men and almost 18 per cent in women. The figures showed fewer people under the age of 75 died from cancer between 2007 and 2009 compared with 10 years ago, while the number of deaths from circulatory diseases including strokes almost halved in both men and women. Deaths from circulatory diseases among women were less than half the rate for men, falling to 43.2 per 100,000 compared with 99.4 per 100,000 for males, the report said.(MailOnline)
LOS ANGELES — A boyfriend and two doctors who were part of Anna Nicole Smith’s inner circle in her final days and were charged with enabling her prescription drug use were acquitted of most drug charges Thursday, but two were convicted of conspiring to use false names to get her prescriptions. Howard K. Stern, Smith’s boyfriend-lawyer, and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, her psychiatrist, were convicted of conspiring to get the former Playboy model and reality TV star painkillers and sedatives. Prosecutors contended during the nine-week trial that the defendants were dazzled by Smith’s glamor and filled her demands for prescription drugs to protect their insider status in her personal life and her celebrity world. Defense attorneys countered by portraying the defendants as angels of mercy who were trying to help Smith cope with her chronic pain, particularly after she gave birth to her daughter by cesarean then quickly lost her 20-year-old son, Daniel, to a drug overdose. Smith eventually died of an accidental drug overdose in Florida in 2007, but the defendants were not charged in her death at age 39. The jury convicted Stern of conspiring with Eroshevich to obtain drugs through the use of a false name and misrepresentation. Eroshevich also was found guilty of using a false name and misrepresentation to obtain prescriptions for the painkiller Vicodin for Smith. Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, the physician who prescribed most of her pain medications, was acquitted of all charges in a verdict he called a triumph for the medical profession. “This is not just a victory for me, but for patients everywhere who suffer chronic pain,” an emotional Kapoor said outside court. His lawyer Ellyn Garofalo said it also was a victory for Smith.(HuffPost)
Clothes weren’t the only thing Charlie Sheen was missing when New York cops came to rescue a naked hooker trapped inside a hotel bathroom. RadarOnline.com has uncovered what sparked the Two and a Half Men star’s rampage at The Plaza — and he had $170,000 reasons to flip out. The watch that triggered the blowout was a Patek Philippe Chronograph Perpetual Calendar 5970P, the actor is telling close confidantes. And the timepiece — which is still missing — has a whopping price tag of $170,000! It is considered one of the world’s finest timepieces and is built from sapphire crystal, platinum and has diamond hour markers. Even though Sheen has a watch collection valued in excess of $5.6 million, he is said to be devastated at the loss of the Patek Philippe.
PHILADELPHIA — Its first win a certainty Wednesday, it appeared the Heat didn’t want to stop playing in Philadelphia. It felt that good.Game in hand, LeBron James was still swatting shots with less than 20 seconds remaining. Never mind that the Heat’s 97-87 victory against Philadelphia was no longer in doubt. Reserve forward James Jones still threw his body in front of 76ers guard Lou Williams and absorbed an offensive charge. With the first-game jitters out of the way following Tuesday’s loss at Boston, the Heat (1-1) cruised to an easy victory in the second half of its first back-to-back road swing of the season. Playing with more confidence and aggression than in his debut, guard Dwyane Wade scored a team-high 30 points. Taking full advantage of the 76ers’ constant focus on Wade, James and Chris Bosh, Jones had 20 points off the bench, making six of nine from three-point range.(MiamiHerald)
Mike Tyson will fly to Thailand next month to join “The Hangover 2″ and — unlike some of his fellow cast members — he would have been fine working with Mel Gibson. Tyson told us he’d “100 percent” have worked with the troubled star, adding, “I’m not going to ever in my life point my finger at anyone. I don’t live in a glass house. None of us do. I work with anybody, as long as they’re respectful.” Gibson is battling ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, who alleges he assaulted and made threats against her. He was to join “The Hangover 2″ until castmates — who include Zack Gal ifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Justin Bartha — complained, as we first reported. Tyson remains neutral: “We all have that guy — a Mel Gibson — in us. We just don’t want people to be exposed to it. Maybe he needs to go get help. We all need help, and need someone to talk to. I’m not against him, but I’m not for him.”(NYPost)
Former George W. Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman was met with icy stares at a private soiree attended largely by gay men in the West Village the other night, according to a guest. Some weren’t ready to forgive the former Republican National Committee chairman who pushed anti-gay policies before recently announcing he’s gay himself. “Now he wants to mingle with us after he did everything he could to hurt the gays,” one partygoer said to us. But Charles Myers of Evercore Partners, who brought Mehlman as his guest, told us, “There was no drama or suggestion of anyone being unpleasant.” Mehlman said of the report, “Not true.”(NYPost)
