Nelson Grizales, 68, got angry, slapped his wife’s face with an open hand and pushed her to the floor, police said. Amparo Grizales told police she had never seen her husband of 31 years that angry.

Grizales told officers he was mad because she threw his Viagra pills out and pushed her, according to the police report. He was arrested, charged with battery and bail was set at $10,000 after Amparo Grizales said she was not scared of him. “I think he learned his lesson,” she told the judge. (SunSentinal)

A ring of 11 Russian moles right out of a Cold War spy novel was smashed Monday — and among those busted was a flame-haired, 007-worthy beauty who flitted from high-profile parties to top-secret meetings around Manhattan.

Russian national Anna Chapman — a 28-year-old divorcee with a masters in economics, an online real-estate business, a fancy Financial District apartment and a Victoria’s Secret body — had been passing information to a Russian government official every Wednesday since January, authorities charged.

In one particularly slick spy exchange on St. Patrick’s Day, Chapman pulled a laptop out of a tote bag in a bookstore at Warren and Greenwich streets in the West Village while her handler lurked outside, receiving her message on his own computer, the feds said. A similar exchange occurred at a Midtown coffee shop at 47th Street and 8th Ave.

The FBI claimed the two were corresponding via a secret online network. Last week, an undercover agent pretending to be a Russian official arranged a meeting to talk about the weekly laptop exchanges, pretending to be ready to send the sexy spy on a mission to deliver a fake passport to another female agent, according to the federal complaint.(FOX)

Lady Gaga and President Obama don’t often travel in the same circles, but they’re the top competitors in a popularity contest that could have one of them setting a record by this weekend.

Facebook publicists told CNN on Thursday that the pop star and the president are neck-and-neck in the race to become the first living person with more than 10 million fans on the social networking site.

As of early Friday, Obama was in the lead, with 9,058,881 fans. Lady Gaga trailed behind with 9,023,966.

Both of them were more than 4 million fans behind the No. 1 individual, Michael Jackson, who had 13,285,811. The singer died a year ago.

Obama’s page, which is run by the group Organizing for America, includes photographs of his recent Gulf Coast visit and links to speeches from news conferences.

His page lists the president’s interests as “basketball, writing, spending time w/ kids” and says his favorite books include The Bible, Toni Morrison’s “Song of Solomon” and Shakespeare’s tragedies.

Lady Gaga’s page lists upcoming concerts and includes a biographical article describing how the 24-year-old pop star, who played piano by ear as a toddler, grew into a theatrical performer who wows the masses with flashy performances in international concert tours.

“I’m just trying to change the world one sequin at a time,” she says in the posted story.

Facebook says it has more than 400 million active users.

The unofficial popularity contest comes about a year after another internet milestone: a race to attract 1 million followers on the Twitter micro-blogging site.

Actor Ashton Kutcher narrowly beat out CNN, reaching the goal 30 minutes before CNN passed the mark.

Kutcher challenged CNN to the competition, saying he would donate 10,000 mosquito bed nets to charity for World Malaria Day in late April if he beat CNN, and 1,000 if he lost. CNN agreed to donate 20,000 nets.

Police in McAllen, Texas, have arrested a man for allegedly killing his 2-year-old stepdaughter because she kept crying during the U.S.-Ghana World Cup game on Saturday. The details that police allege are horrific.

Police say Hector Castro, 28, called firefighters to his apartment because the girl swallowed a screw. But police say the screw was jammed down the throat of the girl to make the death look like an accident, and that she died because she was beaten and suffocated.

“There are no words for this,” McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez told the Monitor. “It makes you want to think about doing lots of things to this guy, but he will face the criminal justice system just like everybody else.”

Rodriguez said Castro is an illegal immigrant and that he gave investigators a confession that implicated himself in the girl’s death.

Several of the girl’s ribs were cracked, police said. They haven’t released the name of the child. Castro was to be arraigned today, and is to face a capital murder charge.

A new egg screening technique, which doctors hope will boost the success rate of IVF, can predict genetic problems in 90% of cases, research shows.

However, it is not yet clear whether or not it increases pregnancy rates, European fertility experts warned. Up to half of the eggs in younger women and up to 75% in women over 39 are chromosomally abnormal.

Fertility doctors want a reliable way of finding which eggs are genetically sound to try to boost the chances of IVF success.Delegates at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) conference in Rome heard that the egg-screening method may be safer and more accurate than other tests which look for genetic problems in cells taken from the developing embryo.

It detects problems by testing a by-product of the egg called the polar body, which contains a carbon copy of the genetic material in the egg, enabling doctors to see if there are too many or too few chromosomes. The latest analysis of around 200 eggs from 41 couples has proven that it is a reliable method for picking up genetic problems.

Megan Fox and Brian Green got married June 24 in a hush-hush ceremony at the Four Seasons Resort on Hawaii’s Big Island, Green’s rep confirmed Monday.

Details are nil, except that Green’s son with Vanessa Marcil, 8-year-old Kassius, was there to give his dad away.
