The Arizona Department of Education recently began telling school districts that teachers whose spoken English it deems to be heavily accented or ungrammatical must be removed from classes for students still learning English.

Arizona Immigration Law Drives Rallies Across The Country

50,000 rallied in Los Angeles where singer Gloria Estefan kicked off a massive downtown march.  Miami’s Radio Personality Enrique Santos and L.A.’s Piolin along with the Estefans Marched the streets of L.A. to protest against the Arizona  immigration law. Gloria Estefan spoke in Spanish and English, proclaiming the United States is a nation of immigrants. SB 1070 signed into law by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer last week, seeks to “discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by persons unlawfully present in the United States,” and provides law enforcement increased powers, “where reasonable suspicion exists,” to identify and deport undocumented persons.
